FOOTBALL – FC Emmen has recovered well from the painful and unnecessary defeat on their own field last week against the last team of Helmond Sport. At the strong Jong PSV, the Drenthe club won 1-3. Lukkien’s men turned a 1-0 deficit, mainly thanks to a strong second half.
With the win, FC Emmen moves closer to leader FC Volendam. The gap with the orange shirts is only five points. In addition, the margin with competitors, Excelsior, FC Eindhoven and ADO Den Haag (which lost 6-3 at Jong Ajax) was increased. The closest attacker is Excelsior on three counts. Moreover, the Rotterdammers have played one more game.
Difficult start in new formation
FC Emmen had a difficult start on the artificial grass in the Jan Louwers Stadium, although Jong PSV also played very well. The team from Eindhoven was very comfortable on the ball, and the Oppegard/Antonisse tandem in particular proved difficult to stop on the left, but strangely enough, the opening goal came via an attack on the right. So there were plenty of opportunities for the home team, but most of the bets (from about 18 meters) went wide or were too weak to alarm Brouwer.
Lucky equalizer
The club from Drenthe was fortunately level. Veendorp squeezed past two defenders and then saw his pass being worked by Leysen behind his own goalkeeper: 1-1.
