FC Emmen plays in a sold-out house for the lead

FOOTBALL – It didn’t work out against Excelsior earlier this season. On 9 October of last year FC Emmen was able to seize the lead in the Kitchen Champion Division for the first time. That failed. Tomorrow night is chance number two, against FC Volendam.

The game has been circled in red by the supporters of the Drenthe club for weeks. Due to storm Eunice, the squatter was canceled a month ago and moved from Friday evening to tomorrow evening. Monday won’t hurt the supporters, because the stadium will be occupied to the last seat tomorrow.

El Azzouzi was missing

This morning, the FC Emmen selection completed its last training session in preparation for the game against the orange shirts: match number 30 out of 38 in total. “Of course this is a special duel, but it is just one of the last eight finals. Whether we win or lose, nothing has been decided yet,” said Dick Lukkien, who does not yet know whether he can have Oussama El Azzouzi. “Due to sad family circumstances, he is not here today. Will he be there tomorrow? I leave that choice to him.”

For the rest, everyone came out of the game against Jong FC Utrecht unscathed. Not surprising, because the Drenthe club actually only had to turn on one half. “I don’t know about the statistics, but I had the idea that we gave a few percent less after the break,” acknowledged captain Jeroen Veldmate.
