FC Emmen captain: ‘I don’t want to miss the promotion match again’

FOOTBALL – Ole Romeny and Jeroen Veldmate were clear after the win against Jong AZ. “Next week we want to secure promotion and after that we want the scale.”

Romeny finally scored his second goal in the shirt of the Drenthe club. A goal he had been dreading for a while. “Yes, that’s right. I am an attacker and then you are judged on goals. It’s that simple. And that’s how I look at myself. I play well, the actions are going well, but I have to become more effective. That’s why I am also very happy with this goal, which was also just important. After the 2-0, it was over with Jong AZ.”

Captain Jeroen Veldmate saw the 2-0 and later also the 3-0 from the side. He was out with a calf injury. “Whether next week is in danger? I have a positive attitude. Last year I also missed the promotion match with Go Ahead Eagles, so I will do everything I can to be there this time. I don’t think there is anything is broken, so I think it will be fine, although it will take a little more recovery time.”

Incidentally, the captain has not yet reached an agreement about next season. “It’s not that difficult. FC Emmen made me an offer, after which we made a counter-offer. So now it’s the club’s turn again.”
