FC Emmen and main sponsor EasyToys have won prizes at the Eredivisie Awards. The club and the main sponsor received the ‘Football Gives Prize’, and a cash prize of 65,000 euros in total. The company and the football club owe this title and cash prize to the remarkable pink shirts worn by the FC Emmen players last season in the match against Go Ahead Eagles on February 26.
With this, FC Emmen drew attention to testicular cancer, and called on men to check themselves regularly for this form of cancer. The shirts were auctioned after the match, as was a signed shirt from Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastien Haller, who was also diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The auction raised a total of 7500 euros, after which this amount was also doubled by main sponsor EasyToys. So a total of 15,000 thousand euros went to the Testicular Cancer Foundation, which conducts research into testicular cancer, among other things.
