FC Eindhoven records a meager but very deserved victory over MVV

FC Eindhoven is and will remain the best classified Brabant team in the Kitchen Champion Division for the time being. On Saturday evening, the team of trainer Rob Penders won against a battered MVV: 1-0.

After half an hour of play, Charles-Andreas Brym seemed to be on his way to the opening goal. He only went towards the MVV goal, but was pulled down by Matteo Waem. The Belgian defender escaped red. Not much later, he fouled Jort van der Sande. A second yellow card seemed the logical consequence, but referee Martijn Vos spared Waem one more time. It was extra frustrating for FC Eindhoven that two players immediately received a yellow card for protesting.

Before and after the moments where the MVV player got away well, it was the FC Eindhoven players who were too nice for the Limburg club. Van der Sande, Brym and Joey Sleegers had opportunities to score in the first half, but were not sharp enough or decisive enough to put the 1-0 on the scoreboard.

Goal
Where 23-year-old MVV goalie Romain Matthys managed to prevent FC Eindhoven from leading several times, he was wrong after more than an hour with a high cross from Jasper Dahlhaus. He went under the ball, then it was not a very difficult task for Valentino Vermeulen to work the ball into the goal.

It turned out to be the only goal after ninety minutes of play. As a result, FC Eindhoven had to stay sharp until the end, where it could have closed the game much earlier. MVV, which had to miss many players due to infections and injuries, was allowed to thank Matthys and the bar that it only remained with one goal.

In the last minutes there was a final offensive by MVV. In the third minute of stoppage time, Marko Kleinen still dangerously fired on FC Eindhoven’s goal, but goalkeeper Nigel Bertrams made no mistake and kept his goal clean. For example, FC Eindhoven booked a too meager, but very deserved victory.
