FC Eindhoven beats Almere City FC in first play-off game

Thanks to a goal from Dyon Dorenbosch, FC Eindhoven won its first play-off game for promotion to the premier league on Monday evening. It defeated Almere City FC 1-0 in its own Jan Louwers Stadium. The victory caused delirious joy among the Eindhoven players and fans.

For a long time it seemed that FC Eindhoven would not score against Almere City FC. Only after 76 minutes was there Dyon Dorenbosch who headed in a cross from substitute Evan Rottier and thus put the 1-0 on the board.

conservative
FC Eindhoven mainly played in the first half not to lose. Both teams hardly took any risks and that was reflected in the number of chances. Only Naoufal Bannis had an opportunity to score the opening goal before half-time. But the attacker failed to give Eindhoven the lead.

After the break, Almere City was initially more dangerous. José Pascual Alba Seva encountered Jort Borgmans twice, the replacement for the injured goalkeeper Nigel Bertrams.

Broken jaw
The goalkeeper of FC Eindhoven probably suffered a broken jaw after a collision with the knee of Almere’s Rajiv van La Parra. As a result, it seems impossible that he can still play during the play-offs for promotion to the premier league.

Despite the more dangerous Almere City FC, it was ultimately FC Eindhoven that scored. After that, the team from Eindhoven also had a bit more dominance and the team from Almere seemed unable to force the equalizer.

Semi-finals
Due to the 1-0 victory, FC Eindhoven is in a good starting position to reach the semi-finals of the play-offs in Almere on Friday. Coach Rob Penders previously indicated that he hopes that his team will get further than the first round and with this victory that is certainly not unrealistic.

Should FC Eindhoven reach the semi-finals of the play-offs for promotion to the premier league, there is a chance that it will meet Willem II. Just like NAC Breda, the Tilburgers will play their first game in the play-offs on Tuesday evening.
