There are varying feelings at FC Den Bosch after the 1-4 defeat in the KNVB Cup against PSV. Mees Laros is especially proud, but Danny Verbeek hates it. The club legend is also not happy about the number of playing minutes.
After half an hour, PSV was already 0-4 ahead. “Things can go very quickly with a team like PSV, you also saw that against Excelsior,” says Mees Laros. FC Den Bosch started by putting pressure on the opponent, but was quickly put on hold, as Danny Verbeek also saw: “You can put a lot of pressure, but then you have to do it compactly. Where we mainly made a mistake is that we gave away too many goals due to personal mistakes.”
Ultimately, the veteran put the final score on the board as a substitute. But he is not really happy with his goal: “In the end you lose 1-4 and you are sick of that. But we have to be realistic that PSV is a size too big at the moment. You go on the field to get results and if you don’t do that, you still hate it.”
Especially raids
The 35-year-old from Den Bosch has to make do with substitute appearances this season. “I have been feeling very good for a long time. I want to make a lot of minutes, but ultimately you are also dependent on someone else’s choice,” said Verbeek, who has an expiring contract in De Vliert.
The 20-year-old Laros is a lot more positive after the match: “What we achieved is more important than the first half hour and we are proud of that. I would rather go out against PSV than against another club.”
Tribute to 12-year-old Laurens from Vught
The talented midfielder saw the tribute to 12-year-old Laurens from Vught from the field. He died last week and so there was a minute of applause in the stadium. PSV scored in that minute, but the accompanying fans only celebrated after the tribute. “Respect to the PSV fans for remaining silent. Also a lot of strength to the family and friends on behalf of the club and players.”
