FC Burnley secures Belgium’s top scorer Trésor – coach Kompany convinces compatriot

Rental with obligation to buy

Burnley FC have secured the services of the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League. Shortly before the end of the transfer, the newly promoted Premier League team announced the loan of Mike Trésor, who scored eight goals and 21 assists in 34 games for KRC Genk last season. A purchase commitment of around 18 million euros is said to be anchored in the deal.

Trésor had been in the sights of Burnley manager and countryman Vincent Kompany, who is a big fan of the 24-year-old left winger, all summer, but it was not until Deadline Day to make the crucial breakthrough. Trésor are new signing number 15 for the Clarets, whose expenses total €111.05m. “The project and of course the vision of the coach here – I had a long conversation with him – finally convinced me to make this decision,” said Trésor about his move.
