Youngster in learning mode
Mathys Tel is happy with his yield and playing time at FC Bayern so far, but wants a lot more in the long term. The 18-year-old attacker is currently with the French U21 national team. Tel works a lot every day to get good statistics and contribute to Munich’s success.
“I’m not frustrated about my playing time, but I’m definitely working on getting a regular place,” the youngster said.L’Equipe“ trembles. “Today I have noble joker status, but that’s not what I’m aiming for in the long term.” Tel, who moved from Stade Rennes to Bayern for 20 million euros in 2022, scored six goals and three assists across all competitions in the current season in 17 games – 480 minutes. Tel was called up three times in the starting lineup.
“I start from the principle that you have to learn to be small in order to become big,” said the offensive man, who described his statistics as “encouraging for the future”. These would show that he is capable of good performance. Tel’s contract with the German record champions is valid until June 2027. In the 18-year-old age group, he is the world’s most valuable player with a market value of 50 million euros. In September, Tel said he would “bleed, suffer, spit and cry” for his breakthrough at Bayern.
