The footballers from FC Bayern Munich have set their sights on the group stage of the Champions League with great difficulty.
The German runners-up struggled in the second and final qualifying round in the first leg at Real Sociedad to a 1-0 (1-0) and secured a decent starting position for the second leg on September 29 (1 p.m.) at the FC Bayern Campus.
Lea Schüller (45th) scored the winning goal for the guests at the end of the first half, who were not entirely convincing, thanks to an assist from her national team colleague Klara Bühl.
Four days after the bumpy start to the Bundesliga (0-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt), the Munich team were superior to the Spanish runners-up, but were not dangerous in front of the opposing goal. The team of coach Alexander Straus also presented itself vulnerable in counterattacks.
The German doubles winner VfL Wolfsburg is seeded for the group phase, which begins on October 19. Eintracht Frankfurt was eliminated as the third German starter in the first qualifying round. The Champions League final will take place in Eindhoven on 3 or 4 June 2023.
