In the summer, Joao Palhinha’s move from FC Fulham to FC Bayern failed in the last few meters. Since then, it has been considered likely that the German record champions will again look at signing the Portuguese in the coming winter transfer window. But, is this really the truth?
Kerry Hau recently explained in the “Sport1” podcast “Die Bayern-Woche”: “Palhinha is of course still an issue. I think it is realistic that FC Bayern will take a closer look at him in the winter if the financial conditions are right. “
In the summer, those responsible in Munich probably offered around 65 million euros. According to reports, Bayern will no longer offer this amount in the winter. Fulham would therefore have to be content with a lower transfer fee.
“Gentlemen’s Agreement” between Fulham and Bayern flirt Palhinha?
Accordingly, there is said to be a “gentlemen’s agreement” between Palhinha and the London club that should allow the player to move in the winter, even though the latter only extended his contract until 2028 in September. Hau added: “If a club comes along that offers a good and moderate transfer fee in good time so that Fulham can sign a replacement for the position, the club would also be prepared to go down a little with its transfer fee demand.”
And further: “We’re talking about a range of 50 million euros. I’m excited to see what Bayern will do.”
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund recently confirmed in “Sport Bild” that the Portuguese was “of course still on our radar”.
Palhinha would fill the “Holding Six” position at Bayern. The 28-year-old only moved from Sporting Lisbon to Fulham FC in the summer of 2022 and quickly became the focus of Europe’s top clubs with his strong defense.
