FC Bayern with a special gesture before the cup game

Bayern Munich gives the third division team Viktoria Köln 50 percent of their viewer income in the DFB Cup game on Wednesday (8:46 p.m. / ARD and Sky).

“Viktoria Köln can look back on more than 110 years of tradition and is one of the big names in German professional football. Many clubs are suffering from the consequences of the pandemic and FC Bayern has always been known for supporting clubs in need,” said Bayern -President Herbert Hainer.

The third division team is expecting a full house with 50,000 fans for the first round match against the record champions in the RheinEnergie Stadium. Revenue is usually shared.

Viktoria managing director Eric Bock spoke of a “great gesture”. FC Bayern show “greatness. In a game of this magnitude, that is anything but a matter of course and is unique in German football.”

Hainer emphasized that FC Bayern are happy “if we can make a contribution and wish Viktoria Köln all the best for the future – with one small exception, we ask for your understanding with a wink: Of course we want the next one in the DFB Cup round because we still have a lot to do in this competition”.
