At the end of the main round of the Euroleague, the basketball players of FC Bayern Munich once again set an exclamation mark.
The Bundesliga team won against Real Madrid 97-88 (34-52), caught up an 18-point deficit at half-time and scored 38 points in the final quarter.
The Madrilenians were unstoppable from the outside in the first half: the hosts scored eleven threes in the first 20 minutes, thanks to a good defense in the second quarter they pulled away to 54:32 at the break.
Bayern found their rhythm in the middle of the third quarter, and the guests dominated the start of the final section. Three and a half minutes before the end, Deshaun Thomas gave Munich the first lead, and the guests pulled away decisively with a 13:2 run in the closing stages. Thomas scored 12 of his 16 points in the final quarter.
Even before the party, it was clear that Bayern would finish the main round in eighth place. In the playoff quarter-finals, the Munich team will meet the best team in the Euroleague so far, FC Barcelona. The first team to win three games in the series qualifies for the semi-finals.
