The fans have been looking forward to the game between Paris and Bayern for weeks. And in the end they were not disappointed.
FC Bayern remains on course for success and records. In the Champions League clash against Paris St. Germain, the German record champions deservedly won 2-1 in Paris in a high-class game. The 16th win in the 16th competitive game.
The game got off to a turbulent start: Luis Díaz took the lead after just four minutes – and added another after 32 minutes. 2-0 for Bayern. Then, however, it is Díaz who is in the spotlight again. In stoppage time in the first half, he fouled Achraf Hakimi and was sent off with a red card (45th+7). The Moroccan had to leave the pitch injured, supported by the support staff. Bayern fought their way through the second half with ten men – successfully. Only Joao Neves (74th) was able to score a goal for the French.
Serge Gnabry was Bayern’s key player. After a wonderful transfer of the ball to Michael OIise, the Frenchman was denied by goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, but Luis Díaz was successful with the follow-up shot.
Bayern survived a moment of shock because Ousmane Dembélé’s 1-1 score didn’t count due to offside (25′). “But annulé”, i.e. goal disallowed, flashed on the scoreboard after the VAR check. Shortly afterwards, Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé, who went into the game with an injury, had to leave the field. It didn’t work anymore.
That’s why Bayern’s combination game worked. Gnabry shot onto the post (31st). And then Díaz stole the ball from the foot of the unconcentrated PSG captain Marquinhos and converted again in an ice-cold manner. His first Bayern brace. Before the 28-year-old was thrown off the pitch, Joshua Kimmich could have made it 3-0 after being cleared by Gnabry. But the shot landed wide of the goal.
