FC Bayern willl Jonathan Tah: Leverkusen star “in focus”

In the summer of 2015, Jonathan Tah moved from Hamburger SV to Bayer Leverkusen, where the central defender quickly became an absolute regular and a German national player. In 2023/24, the 27-year-old went one step further. A circumstance that should not have escaped FC Bayern’s attention.

Jonathan Tah is “in focus” at FC Bayern, reveals “Bild” head of football Christian Falk in the “Bayern Insider” podcast. Coach Thomas Tuchel is said to be a great friend of the defender.

Another argument in favor of the transfer is that there should be an exit clause in Tah’s contract in Leverkusen (until summer 2025), which would make a deal significantly easier. The “kicker” previously reported on this contract detail. According to the trade magazine, the clause will apply from next summer. Tah would then be available for the manageable sum of 18 million euros.

However, Falk and his “Bild” colleague Tobias Altschäffl emphasize that no contact has been made between FC Bayern, the players’ side and Bayer Leverkusen.

Tuchel should see a need for action in Munich, especially because, according to Falk and Co., he is not yet a big fan of Matthijs de Ligt, and Dayot Upamecano is also not always completely convincing to the trainer. Another plus point is that Tah can also switch to the right defensive side if there is a shortage of personnel.

FC Bayern faces great competition

The fact that the road to a deal is likely to be extremely rocky is primarily due to the expected competition. Tah is said to have found more and more admirers in the past few weeks and months, especially in the English Premier League.

The “kicker” recently listed four extremely prominent clubs, Chelsea FC, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC, which are said to have kept an eye on the Hamburg native.
