New Bayern goalkeeper is allowed to play
Bayern’s new signing Daniel Peretz will guard the Munich goal for the first time in a competitive game in the DFB Cup against Preußen Münster. “This is important for him, important in an emergency, in my view it only has advantages,” said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel on Monday about his decision to use the 23-year-old. Most recently, Sven Ulreich (35) stood in goal for the German record champions, replacing Manuel Neuer, who had been out injured for a long time.
“Sven is doing exceptionally well,” said Tuchel, praising the experienced keeper. In the first round duel against the third division team on Tuesday (8:45 p.m./live on ZDF and Sky), Israeli Peretz, who was signed by Maccabi Tel Aviv for 5 million euros during the summer break, should now have his chance. “That has been discussed with him, that has been discussed with the goalkeeping coach,” said Tuchel. Peretz has a lot of potential and was signed with a lot of hopes for the future.

The Bayern coach left open further changes in the team on Monday. “It could also be that we don’t rotate that much,” said Tuchel. He doesn’t want to give his team the signal that the game in Münster is less important or easier than others.
New signing Raphaël Guerreiro (29), who recently had to take a break due to a torn muscle bundle, will be in the squad for the first time. Central defender Matthijs de Ligt (24) is missing due to minor knee problems as a precaution. Tuchel unsurprisingly described the goal for the new cup season: “We want to go to Berlin, we want to get to the final, and to do that we have to win the games step by step.” The last time the Munich team won the competition was in 2020. The last time FC Bayern went at least three years without a cup win was before 1998.
