FC Bayern | Thomas Tuchel’s future will be ‘reassessed’ in the summer

FC Bayern’s surprisingly clear defeat in the Bundesliga summit against Bayer Leverkusen has sparked new discussions about the future of coach Thomas Tuchel at the record champions. This will supposedly be put to the test, but not immediately.

As the usually well-informed journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday, an immediate dismissal of Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern is not up for debate. Calls for the same dismissal became loud again immediately after the 3-0 defeat in Leverkusen, after Tuchel’s tactical experiment and his personnel decisions did not bear fruit.

According to Romano, the Bayern bosses are initially planning internal talks with Tuchel in order to resolve the critical situation.

No job guarantee for Tuchel at FC Bayern

If the renowned “transfer expert” has his way, that doesn’t mean that the 50-year-old has his place on the Munich bench for the rest of the season. Tuchel’s future will be “reassessed” in the summer, the journalist claimed, saying that firing the coach after the 2024/25 season is certainly within the realm of possibility.

The Bayern bosses saw a possible Tuchel successor up close on Saturday. Romano confirmed rumors circulating that Xabi Alonso has long been highly valued by some of the club’s leading figures. The Spaniard “could be a candidate in the future,” explained the journalist.

Mourinho is also flirting with FC Bayern

According to “Bild”, another big name, José Mourinho, is also already in position. The Portuguese was laid off in Rome in mid-January and has been looking for a job ever since. Apparently “The Special One” has already taken German lessons as a precaution.

However, English media recently reported that Mourinho sees his future in the Premier League. There, both Manchester United and Chelsea FC were associated with him.
