FC Bayern: Thomas Müller feels strengthened by Kahn and Salihamidzic

On the bench “no one is happy”

After the various speculations about his future at FC Bayern Munich, Thomas Müller found a conversation with CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic to be supportive. “I felt that this conversation was a reaction from FC Bayern to give me backs, because there was some outrageous speculation, especially with regard to these exchange stories,” said Müller after the German record champions’ 6-0 in an interview with “ARD – Sports show”.

After several games under the new coach Thomas Tuchel, in which he initially sat on the substitutes’ bench, Müller was said to be considering a change in the summer.

“It was written as if I felt like I was already sitting at the negotiating table with I don’t know which clubs. That’s cheese,” said the 33-year-old. Bayern native Müller has spent his entire professional career on Säbener Straße. He is currently aiming for his twelfth championship title.

“If you don’t play, nobody is super happy,” said Müller after the Schalke game, in which he again led the Munich team in the starting lineup as captain and also scored the groundbreaking 1-0. Müller presented himself as a team player after the game: “With us, the coach is employed specially to make the line-up and distribute the roles. We then have to accept this and carry it out one hundred percent in the interests of the team. We want to be German champions,” said Müller, whose contract runs until 2024 and makes him one of the best-paid footballers in Europe. “This isn’t a one-man show. Football has always been a team sport, I’ve always lived by that credo.”
