Bayern Munich’s talented striker Mathys Tel is still waiting for a starting role in the current Bundesliga season; most recently, the 18-year-old only came on as a substitute for a few minutes under coach Thomas Tuchel. The right-footer, who has been linked to Manchester United (for the article), is reportedly not happy with the latest developments, his agent Gadiri Camara commented on the current situation – and did not rule out a Tel departure in the summer.

“He has lost a bit of momentum and is no longer as aggressive in the box when he comes in. He no longer has the absolute wild urge towards the goal. “It’s probably also related to self-confidence,” Tuchel publicly mentioned his noble joker last week. The youngster may be putting too much pressure on himself, the 50-year-old attested, adding: “Nothing has changed for him. He has to accept every minute as if it were his first and his last – that’s the only way it works. We need his carefree attitude and his willingness to do something in ten, thirteen, twenty minutes. We will not stop trusting him.”

Since his €20 million move to the Isar a year and a half ago, Tel had played 56 competitive games for Bayern, in which he scored twelve goals and prepared four more goals. The 64-minute effort against Augsburg at the end of January was the longest for the Frenchman, who has six scorers this season.
Tel’s agent Camara, when asked about the lack of longer deployments of his protégé, who competes with top star Harry Kane in the Bayern offensive, explained in the “Sport Bild”: “Sometimes you just have to have the feeling that you are on the same path . We’ll see very soon, but I’m confident. But if not, we have to consider all options because Mathys knows that he is valuable and will be a top player.” A change in the summer cannot therefore be ruled out; according to the paper, the players are demanding a clear commitment from the record champions. If this doesn’t happen, Tel would want to leave Munich and a loan deal would be out of the question.
According to media reports last week, Manchester United recently made contact with the Tel side for the first time and are keen to sign the attacker in the summer. In addition to the Red Devils, two other clubs from England have inquired about the right-footer in the last few weeks. Tel’s contract with Bayern runs until 2027, with a market value of 50 million euros he is the most valuable player of his year and age group (for statistics).
