FC Bayern switches to knockout mode: “Very hungry”

Just don’t embarrass the third division team: Bayern Munich’s footballers don’t want to take the DFB Cup round of 16 against Kickers Offenbach lightly.

“We take the game very seriously, it’s never easy against low-lying teams,” said striker Jill Baijings before the champions’ game on Wednesday evening (7:00 p.m.) in the stadium on Bieberer Berg.

We are looking for the last quarter-finalist. The encounter was originally scheduled for January, but the winter weather put a damper on the plan.

The Bundesliga leaders are now even more determined. “The players seem very hungry and we are very self-confident at the moment, which is very promising,” said coach Alexander Straus: “We are of course looking forward to the game and to a good crowd.”

FC Bayern have only won the women’s competition once so far – that was twelve years ago. “The DFB Cup is extremely important for us,” assured Straus, adding that the bitter exit in the group phase of the Champions League only increased the appeal.

If Munich solves the compulsory task of Offenbach, they will play second division club Carl Zeiss Jena in the round of the last eight.
