Rocco Reitz was on the pitch for Borussia Mönchengladbach for the first time over 90 minutes against FC Bayern. After the 1-2 defeat against the German record champions, the Gladbach youngster was particularly enthusiastic about Joshua Kimmich.
“It was a great experience playing against Kimmich,” said Retz in an interview with “Sport1” and added: “I look up to him and like watching how he plays. He is a strong opponent. He turns it up and already knows exactly what he has to do and when Gnabry or Sané are leaving.”
The injury-related absences of Manu Koné and Christoph Kramer pushed Reitz into the Foals’ starting line-up. “It took me two or three days to realize everything. I would have liked to have done a few things better in the forward game with the ball. But I think it was really okay for the first 90 minutes,” said the 21st -year olds.

He even received a personal analysis from Kramer after the game. “It was helpful and he had the same approaches that I can still improve,” emphasized Reitz.
There was also positive feedback from other teammates. “But only a day later because everyone was initially frustrated after the defeat,” noted the midfielder.
It is still unclear whether Reitz will be allowed to play against Darmstadt 98 on the upcoming Bundesliga match day. In any case, the talent doesn’t have too high hopes – Koné and Kramer returned to training after their injuries.
“First of all, I’m happy for both of them that they’re back. The best will play. That’s how it is. My standing doesn’t change that much after just one game. You have to work for that over time,” said Reitz, who is in came on as a substitute in the final minutes of the first two Bundesliga games.
Reitz comes from Gladbach’s youth. He recently gained match practice on loan at St. Truiden in Belgium.
