FC Bayern Munich has issued a statement five days after Noussair Mazraoui’s Instagram post, which was heavily criticized by the public. However, a dismissal of the defender, which has been discussed in some media, is not an issue.
One day before the guest appearance at 1. FSV Mainz 05 (Saturday evening, 6:30 p.m.), FC Bayern published a statement on its homepage about its defender Noussair Mazraoui and announced that there had been “a detailed and clarifying conversation” with the Moroccan have.
On Sunday he distributed a video on social networks wishing the Palestinians a victory in the conflict with Israel. The Moroccan international had shared a short clip in which a voice said in the style of a prayer: “God, help our oppressed brothers in Palestine to achieve victory. May God give mercy to the dead, may God heal their wounded.”
After the Central Council of Jews recently criticized Mazraoui in the “Augsburger Allgemeine” for his “unspeakable derailment” and denounced that, despite an initial brief clarification, he “continues to lack a clear condemnation of Hamas barbarism”, the statement from the FC Bayern achieved the desired distancing, but only indirectly from Mazraoui himself.
“Noussair Mazraoui has credibly assured us that, as a peace-loving person, he resolutely rejects terror and war. He regrets if his posts have caused irritation,” FC Bayern quoted its CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, who added: “FC Bayern condemns Hamas’ attack on Israel.”
FC Bayern: No consequences for Noussair Mazraoui
Mazraoui, who did not explicitly condemn the attack by Hamas, which is listed as a terrorist group in the EU and which cost the lives of over 1,300 people, added: “Furthermore, I condemn every type of terrorism and every terrorist organization.”
It goes on to say that the Munich team and their professional, who moved from Ajax Amsterdam to the record champions on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, had agreed that the Middle East conflict should not be transferred to Germany, which is committed to peace.
The 25-year-old has no fear of consequences after the discussion. “Noussair Mazraoui will remain in the FC Bayern squad, but is currently out due to an injury he sustained during an international match with the Moroccan national team,” the club said.
