“Dream comes true”

FC Bayern, plagued by injury problems, is getting additional personnel for the decimated defense and has presented a new right-back in Sacha Boey. The Munich team is therefore spared a transfer thriller like the last Deadline Day in the summer of 2023, when the signing of six-man João Palhinha fell through in the last few meters. After successfully completing his medical check, Boey is coming from Galatasaray for a transfer fee of 30 million euros, as the club confirmed. In addition, there can be 5 million euros in bonuses and proportional income from two friendly games. The 23-year-old Frenchman will be tied to the German record champions in the long term until 2028. If he leaves the club early, Gala will receive the bonuses that have not yet been paid.
Boey becomes by far the most expensive right-back to make the leap into the Bundesliga. In that respect, the professional replaces Nordi Mukiele, who RB Leipzig brought from Montpellier in July 2018 for 16 million euros. Boey’s 26-year-old compatriot has been active for Paris Saint-Germain since 2022. And actually it should be Mukiele, who is willing to change, who fills Bayern’s vacancy at the back right. Because there was no progress in the negotiations with PSG about a loan with a purchase option and the FCB did not want to pay more than the offered 15 million euros for Newcastle United’s veteran Kieran Trippier (33), Boey, who had previously been treated as an alternative, finally moved into the center of the Munich team efforts.
Boey new at the top: FC Bayern’s winter signings
FC Bayern’s new signing Boey: “It’s a dream come true for me”
“We are happy to be able to retain a young player with a lot of potential in Sacha Boey for the long term. He also put in a strong performance in the two Champions League games against us. “We have thus further strengthened our squad not only in terms of breadth, but also in terms of quality,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
Sports director Christoph Freund explained: “Sacha Boey is a very fast and physically strong right-back who covers a lot of kilometers in every game and is not afraid of a tackle. He was an absolute crowd favorite at Galatasaray Istanbul, has developed very well over the years, has Champions League experience and was champion with Galatasaray Istanbul last season. He will increase our quality in defense.”

Boey himself said: “It’s a dream come true for me: it’s an honor for me to be able to play for a global club like FC Bayern. I’m really looking forward to my new team and to playing with all these great players in the future. I’m an attack-minded defensive player – I’m just as comfortable taking part in the offense as I am in the defense.”
Boey was the most valuable Galatasaray professional
Boey has continuously increased its market value in recent years to 22 million euros – its highest value to date. No professional in the Galatasaray squad was valued higher recently, the attackers Mauro Icardi (30) and Tetê (23) followed with 20 million euros. Boey also took the lead league-wide with the latest market value update. The right-footed player made 31 appearances across all competitions this season (two goals). In the Champions League, the long-running favorite was able to impress in the group stage against Bayern – and thus possibly finally played his way into the focus of the Bundesliga runners-up.
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk recently said: “Of course, as a coach, I’m not necessarily in favor of Sacha leaving. But if the conditions and a significant sum arise regarding the future of the club, then we have our president and a board of directors who will evaluate that.”
