FC Bayern sells Chris Richards to Crystal Palace – FC Dallas also collects

“Was his great wish”

FC Bayern has the next transfer income for sure. Central defender Chris Richards leaves the German record champions and joins Crystal Palace. The 22-year-old has a contract with the Premier League club until June 2027. The base fee is reportedly 12 million euros, including bonuses of up to 20 million euros. Former club FC Dallas will have a percentage of the transfer, according to the “kicker” with 35 percent.

The American Richards switched from the Texans to Säbener Straße in 2018, but has only played eight competitive games for the pros since then and would probably only have remained a reservist in defense in the new season. Most recently, the defensive man was loaned to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. FC Bayern has now earned around 75 million euros from sales this summer. On the other hand, almost 140 million euros were spent on five newcomers.

“Chris Richards came to the FC Bayern campus at the age of 18. He showed his talent in his first year playing for our second team. That’s why we signed him from FC Dallas, and Chris then developed very well on loan at Hoffenheim. It was now his great wish to assert himself in the Premiere League. We wanted to make that possible for him and we wish him all the best at Crystal Palace,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
