FC Bayern schedules next goalkeeper decision

FC Bayern recently extended the contracts of its veteran goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich until 2025. The duo will therefore also stand in the way of Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan to VfB Stuttgart, next season. What will happen next for the former Schalke player in Munich will probably not be decided until next year.

FC Bayern will wait until next March before making a decision in the Alexander Nübel case. This is what “Bild” reports.

The 27-year-old moved from FC Schalke 04 to the German record champions on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 with ambitions for a regular place. However, the clear number one in Munich was, is and remains Manuel Neuer.

Nübel, who was given a five-year contract until 2025, was initially loaned out to AS Monaco in Ligue 1 for two years. The Paderborn native returned to the Bundesliga last summer and has since been playing on loan for one season at VfB Stuttgart. A purchase option was not agreed.

VfB Stuttgart wants to leave no stone unturned

It was previously certain that Nübel would not be satisfied with a place on the bench if he returned to FC Bayern. Due to the extensions of Neuer and Ulreich, there doesn’t seem to be any space for the time being.

Whether Nübel will have a chance to stand between the Munich posts from the 2025/26 season, after five years of waiting, will be decided next spring. FC Bayern will then discuss whether to offer the goalkeeper a new contract in order to park him at another club for another season.

The “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” also recently reported on such a consideration, but at the same time also reported that Nübel was by no means interested in another loan. One thing is clear: Due to his strong performances so far in the VfB jersey, the right-footer has raised hopes of staying in Stuttgart. They will “leave no stone unturned,” said sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth at “Bild”.
