A real tug of war is brewing around Alphonso Davies’ future. FC Bayern is considering a contract extension. Real Madrid has been considered a major prospect for many weeks. Now Manchester City should also be vying for the left-back.
As the Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional” reports, Manchester City has already contacted Davies and his agent. Head coach Pep Guardiola is said to have identified the 23-year-old as the perfect solution for his system. However, the report does not indicate how great the chances of Davies being signed are.
There is currently a big question mark behind the Canadian’s sporting future. Davies’ contract at Säbener Straße ends in 2025. According to media reports, talks about expanding the working paper are proving difficult.
Real Madrid have been said to be very interested in Davies for weeks. Chelsea FC was also recently included in the raffle.
FC Bayern: Alphonso Davies is keeping a low profile
The left footer is still keeping a low profile. “I feel very comfortable here, playing in an incredible team, at one of the absolute top clubs in Europe,” Davies recently told “kicker”.
The Canadian World Cup driver moved from MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps to FC Bayern in January 2019. Davies then made a rapid development in Munich and had his big breakthrough in the 2019/20 triple season.
“In 2020, nobody really had me on their list, I was a relatively unknown quantity and I delivered,” Davies told the trade magazine.
After winning the treble in 2020, “the expectations placed on me are of course higher. I think that on the whole I lived up to them, but of course not always, not in every game,” said the left-back.
Davies has struggled with fluctuations in performance this season.
