FC Bayern presents Kim – Among the most expensive Bundesliga defenders

“Every soccer player’s dream”

FC Bayern Munich has made the commitment of central defender Min-Jae Kim (26) perfect. The South Korean comes from the Italian champions SSC Naples and has signed a five-year contract on the Isar. According to reports, Kim can move to Munich thanks to a release clause in the region of 50 million euros.

Kim is the Bundesliga champions’ third new signing after Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerreiro, both of whom came on a free transfer. FC Bayern doctors are said to have traveled to Asia for the medical check because Kim had to do his military service. Because of his 1.90 meters height, he was nicknamed “Monster” in Italy.

Kim fits in in the Bundesliga as the third most expensive defender in history. The most expensive in this regard, Lucas Hernández, is to be replaced by Kim in Munich. The Frenchman was drawn to PSG. Kim will then fill Bayern’s center of defense with Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt, the second most expensive defender ever.

“Min-jae Kim has made great progress, most recently winning the Italian championship with SSC Napoli and being voted Serie A’s best defender. He impresses with his physical presence as well as with his mentality and speed. We’re happy that he can get straight into the preparations and we’re convinced that his style of play will impress our fans,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Kim added: “FC Bayern is every footballer’s dream. I’m really looking forward to everything that awaits me in Munich. For me it means a new beginning, I will continue to develop here. In the talks with the club, it was made clear to me right from the start how great the interest in me is. My first goal is to make a lot of games. In addition, I want to win as many titles as possible.”
