Left-back Omar Richards leaves Bayern Munich for the Premier League and joins newly promoted Nottingham Forest. The 24-year-old, whose contract with the German record champions would have run until 2025, signs a working paper with the “Tricky Trees” that is dated until 2026. Born in London, he is Nottingham’s fifth new signing in the current transfer summer and, after Taiwo Awoniyi (joined from Union Berlin) and Moussa Niakhaté (Mainz 05), the third signing from the Bundesliga.

At the end of last week there had already been reports of an agreement between the clubs. The rumored transfer fee is therefore between 10 and 12 million euros, which would flush the Munich team with a hefty transfer profit in the coffers with a view to the personnel. At FCB, Richards, who moved from second division FC Reading to Säbener Straße on a free transfer last summer, would also be in the top 20 most expensive departures in the club’s history. With the transfer, the English break the 50 million mark in terms of spending this summer.

“I’m delighted to be returning to England at such an exciting time and moving to Nottingham Forest,” said the 1.74m full-back, adding: “The club have had incredible experiences in recent months and there are great ambitions for a return to the Premier League. I’ve played against Forest in the past and they get so much support from their fans while the City Ground is a fantastic place to call home now. I can’t wait to join the squad this week and start preparing for the new season.”

We believe he can have a huge impact on our return to the Premier League and are delighted that he has decided to join us.”
