The situation at Bayern is tricky given Manuel Neuer’s injury. Even coach Julian Nagelsmann cannot deny that. He classifies the situation as “demanding and complicated”. Nevertheless, he is “in good spirits” that FC Bayern Munich will play a good second part of the season.
Ulreich represents Neuer
Regarding a possible replacement for the injured regular goalkeeper, the coach said at the training camp in Qatar: “We’ll see what’s possible. There’s nothing new to report.” That’s why he initially relies on Sven Ulreich, whom he certainly believes is capable of the role. After all, he had “played some very good games and played stable” in the first half of the season. Otherwise, he relies on the sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic with regard to possible transfers: “Brazzo is generally working at full speed in all areas, including from here,” analyzed Nagelsmann.
Mazraoui on the mend after pericarditis
Noussair Mazraoui is on the mend after suffering an inflammation of the pericardium: “Nous is fine in everyday life,” said Nagelsmann. Nevertheless, the Moroccan international must continue to take a break from sport and will be medically monitored. After the right-back is still missing, Nagelsmann is happy that Josip Stanišić and Benjamin Pavard “make a great impression”. In Dayot Upamecano he also has a defender who came back from the World Cup “in top shape”. “The World Cup was very good for him” and according to Nagelsmann he was “one of the most stable defenders” of the tournament.

But that has not happened so far. The Bayern coach emphasized that he “didn’t have the feeling that anyone had fallen into a deep hole”. Instead, it is even a small advantage that the national players had a little longer vacation and were able to catch their breath.
