FC Bayern Munich conceded the highest bankruptcy of the season in the top game

Table leaders Bayern Munich suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in the top game of the Basketball Bundesliga.

The Munich team, who once again had to do without their coach Andrea Trinchieri, were surprisingly clearly defeated by the Telekom Baskets Bonn on the 24th day of play with 61:96 (27:48) and are only two points ahead of the first pursuer from the Rhineland.

After a long forced break due to the consequences of a brain operation, Paul Zipser made his third appearance since his comeback. The national player was on the court for almost 21 minutes and scored two points. Best thrower from Munich was Deshaun Thomas with 14 points.

Bonn’s Javontae Hawkins towered over with 23 points. The hosts recorded strong hit rates – almost half of the three-point attempts went in. Bayern was only ahead once at the beginning of the game (5:2).

Italy’s Trinchieri was again represented on the sidelines by Demond Greene. Bayern announced last Sunday that “several members of the supervisory staff and players are in quarantine after positive corona tests”. The people of Munich did not name names.

The EWE Baskets Oldenburg have meanwhile achieved an important success in the fight for relegation. The Oldenburg team won 106:83 (55:49) at Brose Bamberg and moved up to 15th place in the table.
