The German record champion announced sad news on Sunday: Ex-President Dr. Fritz Scherer died.

FC Bayern mourns the loss of a long companion of the club and long-standing ex-president. As the German record champion announced on Sunday, Dr. Fritz Scherer died at the age of 85. Honorary President Uli Hoeneß was dismayed in an official message.

Hoeneß: “As Fritz Scherer and I started together at FC Bayern in 1979, as a treasurer, I as a manager: At that time the club had a turnover of twelve million marks – today it is around 950 million euros”. Scherer had “always opened ear for everyone”, “he always well -fed to FC Bayern with his calm, objectivity and expertise. With him as president, our club pushed into new spheres, and later he always remained a loyal companion of FC Bayern”.

Under Scherer’s time as President (1985 to 1994), FC Bayern became the German record champion in 1987. In addition to his position as President, he was Vice President (1994 to 2012), treasurer and later became an honorary vice president.

Dr. Fritz Scherer has been a member of the German record champion since July 1, 1971 and last had membership number 418. In total, he had been involved in various committees of the club tour for over 30 years.
