Bayern loanee Malik Tillman caused trouble at PSV Eindhoven at the weekend. The 21-year-old took a nap before the game against Almere and didn’t wake up in time. Coach Peter Bosz then removed the striker from the squad.
You would think that a football professional’s schedule on match day would be limited. Much more than arriving on time for the game is usually not on the agenda for professional reasons. Those responsible at PSV Eindhoven were all the more surprised that Bayern loanee Malik Tillman did not fulfill his duties on Saturday.
The 21-year-old was actually planned for the game against newly promoted Almere in coach Peter Bosz’s mind games. “But he overslept, so I left him at home,” reported the ex-Bundesliga coach, who consistently left the Munich player out of the squad. Tillman confirmed that he wanted to travel to the game, “but that was no longer necessary,” said Bosz.
Bayern loanee Tillman misses a great opportunity
Particularly bitter for Tillman: the game against the bottom team would have been a good opportunity for him to advertise himself. So far, the Bayern professional has not been part of Bosz’s regular rotation. The 21-year-old has only made three appearances as a joker in the current competitive season. His chances of getting more minutes against Almere were good. But he ruined these opportunities for himself.
Instead, Tillman’s competitor Ricardo Pepi took his chance. Like Tillman, the ex-Augsburg player is only a reserve, but he still played almost 20 minutes against the newly promoted team, which he crowned with the goal to make the final score 4-0.
With the win, PSV defended its place at the top of the table. The Bosz team has a perfect score of 15 points after five games. Record champions Ajax Amsterdam, on the other hand, are just five points behind in 13th place.
