Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern are going their separate ways in the summer. The Munich-based company announced this on Wednesday. Former player Lothar Matthäus now classified the decision and spoke about Xabi Alonso, who is being traded as his successor.
“It’s a sensible decision for both,” Matthäus made it clear to “Bild” and added: “This was probably the most sensible conversation that has ever taken place between both sides. There are no more excuses. Both sides can live with the decision , no one loses face.”
“In an open, good conversation, we came to the decision to mutually end our collaboration in the summer. Our goal is to realign our sport with a new coach for the 2024/25 season,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said to an association.
However, Matthäus does not rule out being kicked out before the end of the season. “An earlier or premature separation is not ruled out by the current decision,” said the 62-year-old.
Matthäus advises Alonso to go to Bayern instead of Liverpool
