FC Bayern | Matthäus: Tuchel’s early expulsion cannot be ruled out

Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern are going their separate ways in the summer. The Munich-based company announced this on Wednesday. Former player Lothar Matthäus now classified the decision and spoke about Xabi Alonso, who is being traded as his successor.

“It’s a sensible decision for both,” Matthäus made it clear to “Bild” and added: “This was probably the most sensible conversation that has ever taken place between both sides. There are no more excuses. Both sides can live with the decision , no one loses face.”

“In an open, good conversation, we came to the decision to mutually end our collaboration in the summer. Our goal is to realign our sport with a new coach for the 2024/25 season,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said to an association.

However, Matthäus does not rule out being kicked out before the end of the season. “An earlier or premature separation is not ruled out by the current decision,” said the 62-year-old.

Matthäus advises Alonso to go to Bayern instead of Liverpool

It is hoped that the announcement at this time will have a positive effect at FC Bayern. “If that doesn’t happen, you can always separate immediately. The team is now responsible,” emphasized Matthäus.

Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen is now considered the preferred candidate to succeed Tuchel. “Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg even claims to have learned that FCB has “a good to very good chance of getting Alonso in the summer.” The Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur even announced on “X” that the Munich-based company was already planning talks with the Spaniard.

“It’s normal that you have to be interested in Xabi Alonso. If you didn’t take care of him, you would make the next mistake,” emphasized Matthäus.

The record international player advised the 42-year-old to go to FC Bayern rather than Liverpool FC, where Alonso is considered Klopp’s heir. “The task in Munich would be more rewarding than that in Liverpool to become the successor to the revered Jürgen Klopp,” said Matthäus.
