Telekom Baskets Bonn took advantage of their direct competitor Bayern Munich’s mistake and took the lead in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
With their eighth win in a row at 115: 90 (44:47) against the Syntainics MBC Weißenfels, the Bonn team jumped past former champions Munich to first place on Sunday evening. The previously tied Bayern lost surprisingly at the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim 68:77 (37:40).
For the team of coach Andrea Trinchieri it was the first setback after six league wins in a row. With 22: 4 points, Bonn is now just ahead of Munich (20: 6), Crailsheim improved to fourth.
For the Munich team, the 23 points from returning KC Rivers were not enough. In Bonn, the American Skyler Bowlin (23 points) was the best thrower, on the other side of the Syntainics Jamal Morris (31) stood out.
The game between the Löwen Braunschweig and bottom of the table EWE Baskets Oldenburg, also planned for Sunday evening, was canceled at short notice on Sunday afternoon due to five corona cases among the guests. An alternative date is not fixed yet.
