FC Bayern: Lucas Hernández “blew up” the salary structure

Further unrest about Lucas Hernández at FC Bayern: According to an insider, the French world champion’s highly paid contract is causing major problems for the record champions.

Last weekend didn’t go according to plan for Lucas Hernández at FC Bayern either.

After a mediocre performance (sport.de-Grade 4.0) the defender’s working day was already over in the 55th minute when the score was 1:1 against Greuther Fürth. Hernández had contracted a hardened calf and had to be substituted.

Hernández saw his team’s three other goals in a 4-1 win against the bottom team with an own goal from Fürth’s Sebastian Griesbeck (61′), Robert Lewandowski (82′) and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (90′) from the bench .

After all: The extremely injury-prone 26-year-old is unlikely to be out this time. “It’s not bad for Luci,” said coach Julian Nagelsmann after the game.

Difficult time for Lucas Hernández at Bayern

However, Hernández is not currently experiencing an easy time at Bayern. Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and “Sky” expert Lothar Matthäus even had a public exchange of words. The record national player had accused Hernández and his compatriot and central defender Dayot Upamecano that their “price-performance ratio was not right”. Salihamidzic countered that he “didn’t give a damn” about what Matthew said.

One thing is clear: Hernández could not justify the 80 million euros that flowed to Atlético Madrid in 2019 as a Bundesliga record fee during his time at Bayern.

But his allegedly extremely lucrative five-year contract, which he signed at the time and which – depending on the source – is said to bring him between 17 and 24 (!) million euros per season, weighs even more heavily.

FC Bayern “in the Hernández trap”

Hernández’ princely salary allegedly aroused covetousness in the squad. Top performers such as Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka or Kingsley Coman and currently Serge Gnabry therefore entered their contract negotiations with FC Bayern with significantly increased demands.

“Bayern is in the Hernández trap. He blew up the salary structure,” an unnamed insider revealed “Spox”.

Salihamidzic is becoming the focus of criticism, not only because of the Hernández cause. The fact that Nagelsmann is said to be dissatisfied with the squad planning could indicate a conflict between the sports director and the coach.

“Brazzo shouldn’t try to blame the coach for failures. Nagelsmann won’t put up with that,” the Bayern insider warned the Bosnian.
