Haaland with next record
After the painful 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League, CEO Oliver Kahn has sworn the pros at Bayern Munich not to give up hope for the second leg. “Yeah, it doesn’t look so good. But I’ve experienced incredible things in football,” said Kahn in his nightly speech after the first leg in Manchester. “We have a duty to throw in everything that’s possible in this second leg.”
The German record champions had to accept the next bitter defeat on Tuesday evening, just a week after being eliminated from the DFB Cup. They want to try everything, so Kahn, with a view to the task next Wednesday in the Allianz Arena, and show the fans “all over the world” that “we are not too disappointed and give up, but that we are trying to do everything in the second leg to throw in”.

Bayern coach Tuchel “very satisfied” & “in love” with his team
Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, praised his team in the highest tones despite the defeat in the first leg. “I refuse, somehow badmouthing the performance. I saw a very, very good performance up until the 70th minute. I’m very satisfied,” emphasized the trainer on “Amazon Prime Video”. “There was absolutely more in it, we would have deserved much more.”
He also told his team that he refused to hang the game on the result, explained Tuchel. He and the Munich pros quickly disappeared into the dressing room after the defeat. Manchester partially scored the goals from “not even half chances to score”, said Tuchel. They themselves deserved at least one goal and gave away one or two too many.
Of course, it was a very bitter result that they had to digest first, admitted Tuchel. He had already received the full program, “but today I’m in love with my team”. It was fun coaching her. For the second leg on Wednesday next week in Munich, the 49-year-old, who won the “premier class” with Chelsea in 2021, announced: “Nothing will be given away.”
Haaland sets next record – Guardiola “emotionally devastated”
Rodri gave Man City the lead in the 27th minute before Dayot Upamecano made it 0-2 through Bernardo Silva (70′) with a serious mistake. Top striker Erling Haaland (76th), preparer at 2-0, scored 3-0 for Manchester – Haaland again and again: The second most valuable footballer in the world with a market value of 170 million euros also set another record with his goal, because it was his 45th goal of the season in all competitions – according to the Premier League, no player from the English upper house has ever managed that in a season.
Despite the comfortable result, City coach Pep Guardiola stated after the game that he was “emotionally devastated” (quoted via “BBC Sports“). “I’ve aged 10 years. It was such a challenging game. It wasn’t pleasant,” the ex-Bayerman continued: “Now I have to relax – a day off for the boys, then we can continue preparing for Leicester.”
