After a few unsatisfactory months under Thomas Tuchel, Leon Goretzka’s future at FC Bayern was long considered questionable. The issue has not been clarified even after the coach’s departure, but there is still a clear trend with the national player.
Juventus Turin, one of the most famous clubs in the world, is currently vying to sign Leon Goretzka. Italian media first started the rumor a few weeks ago. The “Bild” also confirmed the corresponding reports.
However, Goretzka herself is (still) ignoring the interest of the old lady from Italy. According to “Bild”, the midfielder would like to stay in Munich despite the trouble this season. Nevertheless, he also wants to first see who the new coach will be, it is said. The national player has therefore postponed the decision about his future – and made it dependent, among other things, on the question of the coach.
Goretzka’s salary bothers FC Bayern bosses
On the other hand, it is also certain that the 28-year-old is not without controversy in the Munich executive suite. What is considered problematic is not necessarily his performance on the field – although there is room for improvement there too – but above all his high salary, which according to “kicker” should be at least 17 million euros.
An extension of his contract, which expires in 2026, would only be accompanied by a reduction in salary, if the club even wants to do so. It is not known whether Goretzka would agree to this.
In addition to Juventus Turin, several other clubs have also been linked with Goretzka in the recent past. Manchester United was mentioned in this context. However, these rumors never became concrete.
