“Its importance is enormous”

Coach Julian Nagelsmann was very positive about the national player’s development on the occasion of the anniversary. “His importance for Bayern Munich is huge. We’re glad he’s with us,” said the coach. The offensive player is currently proving his versatility, which has already brought him appearances on both flanks this season, and his talent as a substitute for the injured Leon Goretzka (27) in defensive midfield alongside Joshua Kimmich (27).

Musiala was still a bit too “playful” in some situations in the unfamiliar position, Nagelsmann remarked after Munich’s 7-1 win against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League. But Musiala has recently “gained a lot” when it came to “reliability”, the coach praised. “The fact that he has great attacking qualities, is very sure of the ball and can turn and wriggle out of various pressure situations is exceptionally good. His development is good,” said Nagelsmann. Musiala is now consistently delivering good performances.

Musiala has scored nine goals in 49 Bundesliga games to date. The nine-time international and EURO 2021 participant is also considered a solid candidate for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year. National coach Hansi Flick is likely to include Musiala in the first international squad of the World Cup year next week.
