FC Bayern is busy working on its squad for the coming season. Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane is currently considered the record champion’s big transfer target. But a star from FC Barcelona should also be very popular in Munich.
As the Spanish portal “Don Balon” reports, Frenkie de Jong is “FC Bayern’s next galactic goal”. The Bundesliga club is therefore ready to put 80 million euros on the table for the central midfielder.
The speculation surrounding De Jong’s sporting future is not new. The 26-year-old is traded again and again at FC Bayern. Most recently, “madrid-barcelona.com” even speculated about a possible swap deal that could include none other than Joshua Kimmich.
According to information from “Sky”, FC Bayern is monitoring de Jong’s situation. Head coach Thomas Tuchel should think big about the eights. According to “Bild”, however, de Jong is currently not an issue on Säbener Straße.
Barca coach Xavi apparently wants to keep De Jong
On the transfer market this summer, the Munich team is primarily looking for reinforcements for the attack and for central midfield. It is doubtful whether there will be any money left over for de Jong. Especially since a farewell to the Oranje professional from Barcelona is not certain at all.
According to ‘Don Balon’, Barca boss Xavi is a big fan of De Jong and would like to keep the Netherlands international in the squad.
The playmaker switched from Ajax Amsterdam to FC Barcelona in the summer of 2019 for around 86 million euros. De Jong still has a valid contract with the Spanish champions until 2026.
With Ilkay Gündogan, FC Barcelona recently landed another professional for central midfield. The German international comes on a free transfer from Champions League winners Manchester City.
