The Allianz Arena is too big for the FC Bayern women’s team and the current venue is too small. Now the club is probably reacting by buying a new stadium.

FC Bayern is about to acquire the Unterhaching sports park after the Unterhaching local council approved the sale. According to media reports, the stadium will belong to the Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH, which belongs to FC Bayern, from January 1, 2026 and will be the new home of the FC Bayern women’s team, which currently plays on the FC Bayern Campus.

According to media reports, the purchase price is around 7.25 million euros. The Sportpark Unterhaching, opened in 1992, offers space for around 15,000 spectators and could offer the Bayern women better conditions than the previously used stadium on the FC Bayern Campus, which only holds 2,500 spectators.

So far, FC Bayern’s footballers have occasionally competed in the 75,000-seater Allianz Arena, which is, however, too large for regular games. With the move to the Unterhaching sports park, highlight games could continue to take place in the Allianz Arena, while the sports park offers a suitable size for standard operations.

SpVgg Unterhaching, the current user of the stadium, has not exercised a right of first refusal. There is a strategic partnership between FC Bayern and SpVgg Unterhaching in the youth sector, which could facilitate a solution for the use of the stadium. Official confirmation of the purchase is expected after a notary appointment next week.
