On Saturday, Harry Kane cracked the magical 30-goal mark in FC Bayern’s 8-1 win against Kellerkind Mainz 05. The goalgetter could surpass Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record in his first season in Munich. Coach Thomas Tuchel is hopeful about this.
“I trust Harry with everything. He does what he always does in his entire career. He scores, he is a role model, he is a great personality,” explained the outgoing coach when he was asked about Kane after the final whistle.
Robert Lewandowski, who now earns his living at FC Barcelona, broke Gerd Müller’s legendary mark in 2020/21 and scored 41 goals.
Kane currently has 30 goals. The England captain became the first player in Bundesliga history to score eight multiples in his first season.
Against Mainz, Bayern’s record purchase collected a total of five (!) scorer points – the best score of sport.de was the logical consequence.
“I’m in a good position and I’m feeling good. 30 goals is a nice milestone at this point in the season,” said Kane. There are still a few games left and hopefully there will be a few more goals.
FC Bayern celebrates Kane: “Harry is a phenomenon”
Against Mainz, Kane demonstrated his versatility. He hit with his right, his left and his head.
“It’s a gift to be able to train him,” said Tuchel about the 95 million euro man, who came to Säbener Straße after a tough poker with Tottenham Hotspur.
“Harry is a phenomenon with his goal rate. But it’s also unbelievable how he works for the team,” enthused sports director Christoph Freund. The preparatory work before Jamal Musiala’s goal was also outstanding.
Like Tuchel, Bayern captain Manuel Neuer didn’t want to make a ranking with Kane. When asked whether he would reach Lewandowski’s mark, the keeper replied: “I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”
