FC Bayern is again early German champion – victory in the top game against BVB

The Munich team add another shell to their collection of titles and are already German champions again three games before the end of the season – Bayern make everything clear against arch-rival Dortmund of all places.

Title number ten in a row, title number 32 overall: FC Bayern Munich are German champions again. The Munich team won the top game against Borussia Dortmund 3-1 (2-0) on Saturday and, of all things, made it clear that they should defend their title again in a duel with their arch-rival and closest pursuer. Three games before the end of the season, the team coached by Julian Nagelsmann (75 points) can no longer be caught by second-placed Dortmund (63).

Serge Gnabry (15th), Robert Lewandowski (34th) and Jamal Musiala (83rd) scored for the hosts, for BVB, which was disappointing for a long time, Emre Can (52nd, penalty kick) only scored the interim goal.

Nagelsmann has thus become the second youngest master coach in Bundesliga history. After the surprising quarter-finals defeat in the Champions League against FC Villarreal and the embarrassing knockout in the second round of the DFB Cup at Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Munich team at least fulfilled their duty. “Oh, how beautiful that is,” the Bayern fans sang before the final whistle.

Everything in Munich was designed for the title

For Bayern it was the eighth competitive win in a row against Dortmund. BVB, for whom Emre Can (52nd) scored a penalty kick, did not turn into a party crasher as hoped, but had already secured qualification for the Champions League beforehand.

“It’s a good coincidence that doesn’t happen that often – and we’re looking forward to it,” Nagelsmann said before the game about the opportunity to clinch the title with a prestigious win against arch-rivals. Even before the summit meeting, everything around the arena was designed for the championship in the form of banners and flags.

However, the host initially found it difficult against well-structured Dortmunders. But effective Bayern Munich took the lead with the first chance. Leon Goretzka put a corner from Joshua Kimmich with his head back to Gnabry, who scored from 16 meters. The opening goal had a liberating effect on the hosts, who subsequently took control of the game.

Bayern suddenly showed nerves

The weakened BVB registered for the first time with a deal from exceptional striker Erling Haaland (27th). After a goal by Gnabry was denied for offside, there were no objections shortly afterwards: Lewandowski increased to 2-0 after a pass from the new record professional Thomas Müller (eleven championship titles). Dan-Axel Zagadou had previously lost the ball. From then on, Bayern had everything under control, Lewandowski failed to raise the ball from the edge of the penalty area before the break (43′).

After the change of sides, Munich suddenly showed nerves. Kimmich fouled Marco Reus in the penalty area, Can safely converted from the point – the goal. The guests stayed tuned, Reus fails from a tight angle at Manuel Neuer (54th). An open game developed, both teams opened their sights. Lewandowski failed from close range at the brilliantly reacting Marwin Hitz (69th). Joker Musiala then made everything clear.
