Royal transfer Harry Kane not only inspires FC Bayern, but the entire Bundesliga. But because of the tough negotiations, the Munich team neglected their homework in other positions, criticizes former national player Stefan Effenberg.
Harry Kane was once again the decisive player on FC Bayern’s side with his hat-trick against BVB (4-0). The Englishman has 17 goals and seven assists in 14 competitive games for the German record champions – an outstanding figure.
But despite the 30-year-old’s commitment, FC Bayern still has unfinished squad construction sites, as former Munich player Stefan Effenberg highlighted on “Sport1” on Sunday. According to the former “Tiger”, the right side of the defense in particular is understaffed.
Did FC Bayern concentrate too much on Kane?
In the summer, FC Bayern let both Benjamin Pavard move to Inter Milan and Josip Stanisic move to Bayer Leverkusen, albeit only on loan. “To let one go, okay. But not both. That was incomprehensible to me and to some extent irresponsible,” complained Effenberg.
The 370-time Bundesliga professional said: “I think those in charge at Bayern Munich have become so fixated and focused on Harry Kane […] and have forgotten certain things around it. That is the danger. The important thing is that they recognize it and in the winter – although I’m not a fan of it, and Bayern Munich isn’t either, by the way – to use the transfer window in the winter – to add quality. It’s going to be extremely difficult, but at least they’ve recognized that.”
Noussair Mazraoui, who arrived in the summer of 2022, has been on the right side of defense since Benjamin Pavard left. The trained midfielder Konrad Laimer has to help out at times. Due to numerous defensive injuries, head coach Thomas Tuchel has had to repeatedly restructure his back four.
