FC Bayern in the semifinals of the BBL playoffs

The basketball players from Bayern Munich have reached the play-off semi-finals of the Bundesliga in a hurry.

Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team won 65:54 (36:37) at BG Göttingen and, with the third win in the third game, was the first team to reach the semi-finals.

Bayern are aiming for their first championship since 2019 – in the past three years the title has gone to Alba Berlin.

In Göttingen, Cassius Winston (16 points) and former NBA professional Isaac Bonga (15) were the most successful throwers for Munich, who will win the double after their triumph in the cup.

BBL playoffs: EWE Baskets already out

Andreas Obst was also used: The national player, whose use for the third place in the main round was a question mark after a slip in the second game, remained without a point.

In the semi-finals, Munich will meet Berlin or ratiopharm Ulm, defending champion Alba is 2-1 behind in the best-of-five series. Trinchieri doesn’t care about the opponent. “Whoever comes deserves it,” said the Italian at MagentaSport. National player Niels Giffey said: “We’ll see what’s coming. The trip to Ulm is a bit shorter from Munich.”

The EWE Baskets Oldenburg, who lost the series against the MHP giants Ludwigsburg with 0:3, were eliminated surprisingly clearly. Ludwigsburg won the third game on Sunday in front of their home crowd with 86:72 (40:37). The hosts won through as a team: Five players managed double-digit scores, including top scorers Will Cherry and Shonn Miller (17).
