FC Bayern II has conjured up a show of power on the pitch in the Bavarian regional league and has at least retained a remaining chance of promotion to the 3rd division.
In front of a home crowd, FC Bayern celebrated a convincing 8-1 win against bottom team TSV 1860 Rosenheim in the catch-up game of matchday 29 on Wednesday evening. With that, Munich cemented second place in the table, but the probability of displacing SpVgg Bayreuth from first place remains manageable.
In the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse, the second stand-in for the German record champions left no doubt as to who was in charge on the pitch.
19-year-old midfielder Emilian Metu, who has been a part-timer so far in 2022, opened the scoring with a brace in the early stages (9th and 10th minutes). The Austrian’s first goal was prepared by Gabriel Vidovic, who then once again demonstrated his outstanding skills.
Vidovic underlines his value for Bayern
In his 29th season for Bayern II, the 18-year-old scored his goals 19, 20 and 21. Only coach Martín Demichelis, who substituted his protégé after 58 minutes, prevented further goals. Vidovic had been part of the professional squad several times in the past few weeks and had already played twice in the Bundesliga.
The substitution of the courted offensive jewel could only partially satisfy the goal hunger of the Bayern talents: Grant-Leon Ranos increased to 6:1 after 56 minutes and to 7:1 after 80 minutes. Malik Tillman scored the final point after 85 minutes.
For the guests, Sam Zander scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute in one of Rosenheim’s few offensive actions.
In the table, FC Bayern II is five points behind SpVgg Bayreuth three games before the end of the season. Only first place would mean promotion to league three. With 109 (!) goals, however, the men from the Bavarian capital have the best offensive.
