Sarpreet Singh will be able to play in 2023 at the earliest after his renewed loan move from FC Bayern to Jahn Regensburg in the past transfer period.
Sarpreet Singh has no prospect of playing time in FC Bayern’s star ensemble. The 23-year-old New Zealander should therefore gather match practice again this season with Jahn Regensburg in the 2nd Bundesliga. The German record champion Singh had already lent there in the past season.
The attacking midfielder played 27 competitive games for the Upper Palatinate, and the statistics counted 15 goals for him – a thoroughly convincing record.
However, Singh will not appear again in the Regensburg jersey in the near future. As the club announced on Tuesday, the loan agreement with FC Bayern was not reported to the DFL in good time.
Singh, who recently also suffered from a pubic bone injury, can only be registered by Jahn in the coming winter transfer window in January. The club did not say exactly how the momentous omission came about.
Only 72 minutes for the FC Bayern pros
“We are very unhappy about the processes and circumstances that led to this situation. In a personal dialogue with Sarpreet Singh, we were able to explain the facts and in particular to express our regret,” explained Regensburg CEO Hans Rothammer.
Coach Mersad Selimbegovic added: “Of course, that was also a heavy blow for us, which we first had to cope with together with Sarpreet. But we are now looking ahead and will make the best of the situation in close cooperation with Sarpreet.”
Singh moved from his homeland to FC Bayern in 2019, but did not make the breakthrough in the professional squad there and only played 72 competitive minutes outside the second team. A loan to 1. FC Nürnberg 2020/2021 was also disappointing.
