FC Bayern dropped their first points in the Bundesliga in a 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday evening. On the Munich side, new star signing Harry Kane scored to make it 1-0, but struggled with his own performance after the game.
“We started the game really well, controlled it, controlled possession and created good chances. We then lost a bit of our shape and they (Bayer Leverkusen, editor’s note) took advantage of that. Then things went wrong back and forth in the second half,” said the Englishman after the game, describing how he experienced the 90 minutes.
Kane himself scored with a header to give Bayern the lead in the seventh minute. It was already the fourth goal for the 100 million euro newcomer, who only moved to the German record champions shortly before the transfer deadline.
The 30-year-old was annoyed that his team had already lost their line of play in the first half.
He warned that the right conclusions had to be drawn from the division of points: “There is a lot to improve and we will of course look at where we can improve for the next games.”
Kane confident: “I’ll learn more and more about the team”
At the same time, Kane once again appealed for patience. He sees himself as far from having reached the top level of his performance, especially when it comes to interacting with his new teammates: “It’s only my fourth game. I’m still getting to know everyone and learning how the others play. “
In the past few days, the center forward has only had a few training sessions, as he only returned from the international break with the England national team later in the week.
“It was a busy week because I was away and came straight back into this game. But as the season progresses I will learn more and more about the team and hopefully improve,” said the Three Lions captain confidently.
