Joshua Kimmich is an absolute constant at FC Bayern and is already in his ninth season with the Munich team. Club president Herbert Hainer now emphasized the importance of the national player and commented on further plans with Kimmich.
The club president emphasized to “Sport Bild” that Kimmich had long since joined the ranks of the great players of the last few decades at FC Bayern.
“He moves in the proud regions of club greats like Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer,” said Hainer to the specialist magazine about the 27-year-old, who now has, among other things, eight German championships, three DFB Cup victories and one champion -League title can look back.
According to the president, it is FC Bayern’s firm intention to retain the midfielder for as long as possible. Ideally until his last appearance as a professional footballer.
“Joshua Kimmich represents FC Bayern – we like that he always takes responsibility and leads the way. He is one of our captains and one of those types of players who set the direction of a team. I would like him to end his career here – but that of a distant day,” Hainer continued.
Hainer wants to extend his contract with Kimmich again
The German international is under contract with the German record champions until 2025. An early extension of the contract is in prospect, but is not yet considered certain.
Then he explains: “Of course we want to see him on the ball for us for as long as possible and will convey this to him in the contract discussions,” Hainer added on the matter.
