FC Bayern: goalkeeper waves extension

When Sven Ulreich returned to FC Bayern from Hamburger SV last summer, he only signed a contract until the summer of 2022. Now Manuel Neuer’s substitute keeper is looking forward to an extension.

As the “Sport Bild” reports, the trend at Ulreich is clearly in the direction of extending the expiring working paper by another year.

Ulreich is the clear number two behind Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich. In the current season, however, he has been on the pitch seven times and has proven to be a reliable support.

The former U21 national goalkeeper also enjoys respect in the team, and the 33-year-old distinguished himself as a strong substitute between 2015 and 2020.

Should Ulreich actually extend at Bayern, the rumors about Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld would probably fizzle out. The DSC goalkeeper has long been associated with a move to the German record champions.

Nübel does not think about Bayern return

An extension with Ulreich would make sense, especially given that Neuer’s designated successor, Alexander Nübel, has been loaned to AS Monaco until 2023.

Nübel recently emphasized that he would not want to return to Munich even then. “It’s not an issue at the moment. If Bayern has something else in mind, we have to talk about it. But for me it’s not an issue at the moment,” said the ex-Schalke player to “Bild”.

“I don’t think Manuel Neuer will sit on the bench. If he’s there, he’ll play,” said the goalkeeper pessimistically, adding clearly: “I don’t think I’ll come back to Bayern in that time .”

Manuel Neuer’s contract runs until 2023. According to media reports, the number one between the posts is about to be extended until the summer of 2025.
