FC Bayern gives Eric Dier a short-term contract

FC Bayern have signed Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur. The Munich-based company officially announced this on Thursday evening.

The German record champions strengthened their defense with Eric Dier shortly before the Bundesliga restart.

The Englishman will initially receive a contract with FC Bayern until the end of the season, which can be extended for another year via an option. As the Munich team announced, the new addition will have shirt number 15.

However, the club did not provide any information about the amount of the transfer fee. As “Sky” reports, the Bundesliga club does not pay any base fee to Tottenham Hotspur. In the end, between two and 2.5 million euros are due from performance-related bonus payments alone. The renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that FC Bayern would have to transfer around four million euros to the Premier League club.

“Dream” comes true for Eric Dier

Bayern Munich’s sporting director Christoph Freund was “glad” to be able to welcome the new signing to Munich: “He has played a role in our considerations for this transfer period for a long time. Eric will be a valuable part of our defense. His sporting abilities and his international experience will help the team both on the pitch and in the dressing room.”

The 29-year-old had already been linked with a move to Munich last summer, but he no longer played a role in Spurs team manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

“This move is a dream come true for me, because even as a child you want to play for clubs like FC Bayern one day,” said the winter newcomer: “FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has an incredible history . I want to help the team with my versatility in defense and I’m really looking forward to my new colleagues – and to the fans in the Allianz Arena, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.”
